Courtney E. Evans

With behind-the-bench perspectives and experience, an affinity for deep-dive research, and a determination to craft the most effective and persuasive arguments, Courtney Evans is a valuable asset for the firm’s clients and a key member of its appellate team.

Courtney is involved in every aspect of appellate work, leveraging her experience as a law clerk in Michigan’s 7th Judicial Circuit Court and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, both for the Hon. F. Kay Behm. In those roles, she participated in a broad range of civil and criminal cases, drafting opinions, bench memos, and other work product while also managing busy courtrooms and full dockets. Courtney gained important and actionable insights during this time regarding what works — and what doesn’t – in oral and written advocacy. This helps her identify and frame core issues and develop effective approaches most likely to lead to the desired case outcome.

A self-starter and excellent communicator who also has experience working in the U.S. Senate, Courtney knows that getting the right answers often involves asking the right questions. Her intellectual curiosity and ability to drill down to the smallest details of a matter have formed a solid foundation for her appellate career.
